Meyhane is a tradition that lasts for hundreds of years... since the Byzantine Empire!

The word meyhane derives from two Persian words: "mey" which means wine and "khaneh" which means house. Meyhanes are traditional restaurants serving alcohol such as wine, raki and beer and of course traditional Turkish foods, called mezes.

At meyhane you can enjoy the delicious Turkish cuisine while enjoying dancing with the rhythms of the live Turkish music!

Tarihi Cumhuriyet Meyhanesi

A three floor classic tavern and one of the most famous, not only in Balik Pazar but all over the Beyoglu area. For over a century, attracts locals and visitors with their big variety of delicious mezes, the seafood and the meat dishes, along with the live oriental music, played every day at the top floor!

Imroz

Located at the famous Nevizade, this meyhane was one of the first in the area, established in the 1940s. A two floor tavern, offering 35 kinds of delicious meze at a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. One of the most known taverns, opened with great care in 1954. A two-floor place where you feel like home, with its simple interior and the traditional Turkish music.
